For the development of knowledge and experience in the use of AI in the Netherlands, it is essential to focus on specific industries that are relevant to our country. These industries can achieve excellent results, and knowledge and experience are extended for application in other sectors.

    The safety of the Netherlands is under pressure, not only the physical safety of citizens and our infrastructure but also our digital safety. The threat from professional criminals is growing, and there are 'state actors' who focus on digital economic and political espionage as well as digital sabotage. The deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers excellent opportunities in a digitising era strengthening our security, both in the judicial chain and in the defence chain.

    The impact of AI on the Dutch economy, which is inseparably linked to security, is growing. There are high expectations for applications in the security domain in the coming years. These include insight into patterns and possible deviations, predictive analysis and support in decision-making, machine learning and recognition in the broadest sense of the word. In the Netherlands (South Holland in particular), a lively AI ecosystem is already active in this area.

    Working group

    The Working Group on Security, Peace and Justice ensures that the relevant national players in the ecosystem connect, coordinate and cooperate on new content and outcome. Topics on which the working group focuses include Automated Security Operations Lab, AI for Internet of Things, Operational Technology Security, International AI Forum for AI, AI for the Dutch language.
