Activites in AI field

AI is a key field of interest for several research groups (most prominently Ambient Intelligence and Mechatronics) and study programs (a.o. HBO-IT and Mechatronics). Research is carried out by researchers, teachers and students by looking at application and further development, always incorporating partners from the professional field.

Contribution to the NL AIC

Our research groups form the basis of applied research. Researchers take part in several working groups of NLAIC to provide input and improve collaboration. In addition, Saxion has a large student population involved with AI, in combination with a broad network of companies and institutes where applications of AI are of great importance.

The motto of Saxion is ‘Get Ready for a Smart World’. Enabling technology like AI is a key component of this vision. Collaborating with varying stakeholders is become evermore important. NLAIC provides an excellent platform to join forces with other knowledge institutes.

Building blocks

The NL AIC collaborates on the necessary common knowledge and expertise, resulting in five themes, also called building blocks. Those are important for a robust impact in economic and social sectors.

AI is a generic technology that is ultimately applicable in all sectors. For the development of knowledge and experience in the use of AI in the Netherlands, it is essential to focus on specific industries that are relevant to our country. These industries can achieve excellent results, and knowledge and experience that can be leveraged for application in other sectors.
