Brightlands Smart Services Campus

Organisation profile

An alliance of companies, knowledge institutes and other organizations unite the most important AI expertise in Limburg in the AI-hub Brightlands and the BSSC in Heerlen is at the center of it all. These organizations work together to innovate and utilize the opportunities that artificial intelligence and data science have to offer.

Activites in AI field

The AI-hub coordinates its activities with the diverse economic landscape in Limburg. Application areas for the Hub include public services (including public safety), financial services, healthcare and health, the circular processing industry and education. Development ambitions have been formulated for these areas and are now being implemented.

Contribution to the NL AIC

The AI-hub Brightlands benefits from the four Brightlands campuses in Limburg to connect knowledge institutes, government agencies, SMEs and citizens in data science and AI activities, research programs, technology and economic development. In doing so, the AI-hub Brightlands meets the needs of local market players.

Why NL AIC?

The BSSC was founded by the Province of Limburg, UM and APG to strengthen innovation in the region. In addition to driving innovation, other spearheads in Brightlands’ ambitions include keeping, attracting and developing talent, supporting companies and strengthening the Limburg economy.

Building blocks

The NL AIC collaborates on the necessary common knowledge and expertise, resulting in five themes, also called building blocks. Those are important for a robust impact in economic and social sectors.

Sectors

AI is a generic technology that is ultimately applicable in all sectors. For the development of knowledge and experience in the use of AI in the Netherlands, it is essential to focus on specific industries that are relevant to our country. These industries can achieve excellent results, and knowledge and experience that can be leveraged for application in other sectors.

    Become a participant

    The Netherlands AI Coalition is convinced that active collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders is essential to stimulate and connect initiatives in Artificial Intelligence. Within fields of expertise and with other stakeholders in the ecosystem to achieve the most significant result possible in the development and application of AI in the Netherlands. Representatives from the business community (large, small, start-up), government, research and educational institutions and civil society organisations can participate.
