Public Services

Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers many opportunities for optimising public services. As more and more good quality data becomes available, the possibilities for governments to make use of it will increase in the coming period. These opportunities must be fully exploited, taking into account the risks and public values as well as fundamental rights.

Within the government, much more is possible than is often thought. By understanding available public or public-private opportunities, new inspiration arises, and new AI initiatives can then be launched. AI models can be used in several sectors within the government. For example, the use of drones and remote sensing can be used for a variety of purposes: think of detecting plant diseases and archaeological sites or inspection of highways and bridges for preventive maintenance. AI models for traffic can also be adapted for the shipping industry.

Working group

The role of the government spreads across every working group of the Netherlands AI Coalition (NL AIC). This working group, therefore, acts as a bridge between the government itself and the various working groups. This working group has four streams: a community of practice, inspiration and information, bridging function to other working groups of the NL AIC and stimulation of AI developments.
